Vertical extension at Mortimer Street, Central London

The main part of this job was to erect a vertical extension on an existing building,

this would then form a new 5th floor level.

We had to strengthen the steel frame on the existing building at critical points of the current roof level in order to take the new structure’s weight.

The new steel weighed over 60 tonnes!, The only way to get these to the new level is by lifting them with a mobile crane. The contractor arranged for weekend road closures to set up a 130 tonne mobile crane and lift the new steelwork into place, this spanned over several weekends.

This particular job was carried out for a private household. The original oak design had started to perish, so we erected this beautiful design by Marshal steel. It was designed to act as an outside smoking area as well as a upper balcony.

Goldman Sachs auditorium

Target: To install steel Beams & columns to create a curved wall (Floor to ceiling) 14 meters high which would form an auditorium for Goldman Sachs International.

We erected the structure by resin anchoring the chain blocks in the ceiling, the lifting points where then pull tested to 1.2 tons to make sure the steel was safe to lift. We proceeded to fit the steel all the way round the auditorium so that they could fire board / plaster board the area once we had finished.

We erected sphere first and then lifted and installed all the pieces using secured chain blocks once the staircase was bolted in position we completely welded the staircase to which the welds were professionally tested & passed. From there we prepped the staircase using various filling techniques to allow us to spray the staircase on-site.
